30 Mar I’m obsessed with my moody green living room sofas
So I'm finally getting around to writing my blog posts on how the house is coming along. It seems like we just moved in but reality set in that on the 11th of March of this year we have been in our home for a year and there is still so much that needs to be done it's crazy!
But one of the things that I am proud of is the progress we're making in the living room.
I always said that when I finally moved into a house I wanted to customize, that I wanted the space to be an entire mood filled with color and vibes, and so far with the work we've done in the living room I think we're on our way.
One of the decisions that I'm most excited about was my ability to choose furniture for the space that wasn't safe.
Because this room is one of the focal points as you walk into our home I knew I wanted to make a statement as big as our personalities immediately and these sofas are helping me do just that.
I've gotten so many compliments on them and everyone that has come over has been so comfortable and talked about how they love the color.
So even though there's still a ton of work to do in the space, I'm pleased with where we are so far.
So originally I'm not going to lie, I was terrified of choosing a color even though color in design just makes my heart smile.
I didn't know if I would be able to pull it off the way I was pulling everything together via my mood boards and I was nervous when they came in, but I have to say that now that they are in the space and have been so since right before Thanksgiving of last year I'm very happy with my decision and I can't wait to finally continue designing around them now that they are in the space.
Here are just a few things that I love about them
1. These are a great mix between formal seating and comfy lounging.
Because we have so many other areas in the house to relax and chill, ANNNNDDD because the media room is just steps away on our first floor, I wanted the living room area to be a little more pulled together.
Between the game room, the media room, the kids lifestyle room and both of our offices, we've got plenty of space to flop around if we want to, I want this room to be a little more tied together but still be comfortable when we do use the pieces.
I work directly off of this space, so anytime I want to shoot live videos, have my office doors open for meetings, I'd like for this space to be a very pretty backdrop and that's exactly what it's helping me to do.
2. Can we just talk about the color?
I knew when I sourced a green sofa set I didn't want to lean into the boho side of things.
Everything is so stark in comparison when you're looking online, you're either going to be pretty darn neutral with white, grays and sometimes blues, orrrr you're going to look like you're straight out of the jungle with the deep rich jewel tones.
Neither of these I have an issue with, if you know me you know I looovvvveeee my plants, but again, I wanted this space to stay a little more elevated from the rest of the house and this color was perfect for that.
I get the rich, almost emerald green color, but it almost acts as a neutral as well.
I like to call it my colored neutral.
I get the best of both worlds, I get my color but I also get the calming feeling that the neutral tones bring, which made this an easy decision to make.
3. Where I Found Them
While I love to shop I also love to find unique pieces from unique places so my home doesn't carry the same pieces that tons of other people have.
Working with a slew of interior designers I know there are special places that only they can buy those unique pieces but if you're just a regular person designing your home like I am those pieces without their help are not accessible.
With that in mind I like to take my time while I'm shopping so I can source different store and share them with you all as I find them and that's exactly what I did with these.
I got these pieces from a company called RST Brands.
Now you may be familiar with RST Brands because of their outdoor line, but they are extending their product line to indoor pieces and when I saw this one I knew I wanted to give it a try.
This set is the Portofino Serene Sofa and Loveseat set.
Ordinarily I wouldn't go with the matchy matchy pieces but I made an exception on this one and I'm so glad I did.
Now that I am confident that I made the right decision, I'm going to take a little time to shop around for a nice accent chair to add to the space and we'll be done from a seating perspective.
I still need to find some unique art work or art pieces to go on the Blue Accent wall above the TV but until all of that's done I'm just going to keep enjoying my sofas while I shop.
Now if you're in search for a new unique piece for your space both indoor or out, I was able to secure a nice discount when you shop with them.
If you visit the site and use the code "Kae" at checkout you'll be able to save 20% on your purchase.
I'm currently shopping for new outdoor furniture and they've got a few pieces in the same collection of the living room piece that I'm considering and I might just have to try them out.
While I'm not in a rush I am looking forward to designing the rest of my space to be exactly what I want it to be.
This is def a process, but I'm enjoying adding the color to my space that I love while making it my own.
Do you love color as much as I do?
I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Chime down in the comments and let me know what you think, I'll be back soon with an update on how things are going.
