Referral-based marketing is where you get paid a commission when referring someone else’s product or service. It’s one of the easiest ways to quickly start earning an income by using the internet without having to spend massive amounts of time and money creating and managing your own product.
Why choose affiliate marketing
You would choose affiliate marketing for a few reasons.
- You’re just getting started and don’t have a product of your own
- You love sharing your experiences with others, so to tell a friend about a product would be no big deal for you
- You have an already existing business, and it’s a product that you love and want your already existing audience to love as well
What do you need to get started as an affiliate marketer
You can get started in a few ways, but I’ll quickly explain what worked and still works for us.
- A platform to share on
- An understanding of how to share links on that platform
Best Practices as an Affiliate Marketer
- Don’t be spammy and recommend stuff you don’t really like
- Be sure to choose products that you align with – do a little research and make sure if you align yourself with that brand you feel comfortable standing beside them
- Find ways to naturally weave the products or services into already existing stories that you’re telling online
